Robert Fan ( Fan Wenzhao ) married Pauline Hsiao ( Xiao Baolian ) in Shanghai in 1924. He was one of the first Chinese to study architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating in 1921, he returned to Shanghai to design the Shanghai Concert Hall, the YMCA, the Majestic Theater, the Georgia Apartments and other landmarks. Fan left for Hong Kong in 1949.
